Walt Harris breaks hand; Jermaine Hardy signed, allocated to NFL Europe

Pro Bowl corner
Walt Harris sustained a small fracture in his left hand at the Pro Bowl on Saturday night while defending a pass intended for Chad Johnson, jamming his hand on the turf coming down. Team spokesman Aaron Salkin said that if this had been a regular season game, Harris probably would've continued playing with a splint.
The 49ers have signed Virginia alum defensive back
Jermaine Hardy and allocated him to NFL Europe. As a rookie in 2005, he was first signed by the Cardinals and ended up on their practice squad before getting signed away by Carolina late in the season. Hardy, who was known for being a good tackler, ran a 4.44 and had a 37.5 inch vertical at his pro day, has played both safety and corner and probably could compete for the dimeback job after he returns from Europe.
