According to the Chicago Tribune, there are rumors floating around that Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren may be returning to the Bay Area to take over the 49ers as general manager. Last week, Denise Debartolo-York told the San Francisco Chronicle that the 49ers are considering stripping the power from Mike Nolan and hiring a GM. The public nature of York's interview potentially could be a move to push Nolan into resignation instead of straight out firing him.

How\'s this for an idea. Let the Yorks sell the Niners to someone who actually wants to be the owner and turn us around. The Yorks are one of the reasons that Bill Walsh\'s efforts to rebuild our team went down the gurgler. Get rid of the Yorks! |

I think Holmgren would come back. Get out of the daily grind of coaching and take our g. m. position. I used to be a Nolan supporter, but why in hell is he sticking with Hostetler is beyond me! Even the players don't stand behind him. |

It's about time the Deise step up to the plate. Hoe can John even look at Eddie at family functions withoutthinking he's on his way to Tahoe to meet up with Frado? John York is the problem with the Niners since he's taken over. I would love a Mike Holmgren GM. I've said bring back Mike for a while. |

Smart. Nolan is an excellent defensive mind, and able to identify good defensive talent, but offense? He\'s had enough chances, and needs a good General Manager to be able to complement his talents. Owners need to become active in this or else we\'ll be bottom feeders for life. |
