49ers Rumorville keeps rolling

Monday, February 25, 2008 | Niner Cap Hell

ESPN's John Clayton reports that the 49ers have contacted DeShaun Foster's agent. Foster would certainly be a great addition to the running game, not only being able to competently spell , but also be a solid starter if Gore ever were to go down.

ProFootballTalk reports that the 49ers are also rumored to have already worked out a deal to sign Justin Smith as soon as free agency begins on March 1st. Smith would likely play weakside OLB in the 3-4.

Paraag Marathe is currently negotiating with 's agent on a contract extension. If one is not reached by the March 1st deadline, Sopoaga's agent has said that they will be on a plane immediately. He has said already that he wants to stay a 49er.

Bears WR Bernard Berrian keeps saying that he wants to play for the 49ers. He'd make for an ideal fit in Mike Martz' offense.
