Matt Barrows reports that Auburn DE/OLB Quentin Groves will make a visit on Friday, April 18 (previously set for Apr 11 but due to a heart issue he delayed the visit a week). Several 49ers evaluators including Scot McCloughan came out for him at the Auburn pro day last month, and he's a perfect fit for weakside OLB in the 3-4 defense across from Manny Lawson. Groves was one of the most impressive performers at the combine, posting a 4.53-4.57 40 yard dash at 259 lbs and throwing up 30 reps of 225 lbs. He's projected by most to go anywhere from the mid-first round to the early second round, and probably would be the best choice if available at #29 for the 49ers because the defense is severely lacking in their passrush, and adding Groves would instantly give the 49ers arguably the most athletic linebacker corps in the league between Groves, Patrick Willis, Brandon Moore/Dontarrious Thomas and Lawson backed up by Rod Green, Parys Haralson, and whomever makes the team between Jay Moore, Jeff Ulbrich and Tully Banta-Cain.

Why tell everyone who the team wants to draft. Yes, he would be a great choice but will the other teams leave him alone now. |

Do you really think a team would draft him to keep him away from us? Every team will draft whoever helps their team more. It's not like it's a secret most mocks have him going to us also. I'm they will work out Merling, Cherilus, and a few others also. |

Ha! I didnt know all the teams in football are trying to see what #29 pick holder does! I could see if we owned the #7 pick or something like that. I hope we draft chris johnson and use him as a wr in martz system he would be a stud!! with 4.2 speed! We need a playmaker and this guy is going to be one in the nfl. Copy & Paste this then archive in your harddrive and check back at the end of next season. |

We already have a strong LB corps and need to focus on the defensive and offensive lines. One more big NT would help us more than anything else. |
