49ers draft Crabtree; trade Rd 2 & 4 for 2010 1st

Saturday, April 25-26, 2009 | Niner Cap Hell

Excuse me while I clean up after myself. The San Francisco 49ers have selected Michael Crabtree with the #10 pick. Victory!!!

49ers Draft Tracker
1 (10) - Michael Crabtree, WR, Texas Tech
2 (43) - traded to CAR
3 (74) - Glen Coffee, RB, Alabama
4 (111) - traded to CAR
5 (146) - Scott McKillop, ILB, Pittsburgh
5 (175) - Nate Davis, QB, Ball State
6 (184) - Bear Pascoe, TE, Fresno State
7 (219) - Curtis Taylor, S, LSU
7 (244) - Ricky Jean-Francois, DE, LSU

CRANK THAT CRABTREE!!!!

Crabtree (6'1 1/4, 215 lbs), who has announced he will wear #15, gets justly compared to Anquan Boldin. He is a physical, playmaking receiver that plays bigger than his size. Solid blocker and terrific running after the catch, he should be a tremendous benefit for starting QB Shaun Hill from day one and also pull away coverage from Vernon Davis. The two-time Fred Biletnikoff Award winner for being college football's best wide receiver was considered by many as the draft's #1 prospect but dropped due to a stress fracture to his foot that prevented him from working out for teams.

In round 2, the 49ers traded away their pick (#43) along with their 4th (#111) for the Carolina Panthers' 2010 1st round pick. The Panthers then selected DE Everette Brown.
