Walt Harris is likely out for the season after tearing his right ACL in practice yesterday. Harris, who will be 35 in August, is in the final year of his contract and very well could end up calling it a career afterwards. The 2006 Pro Bowler has been the 49ers' most consistent, if not best corner since he's been here.

With the loss of Harris, the team will likely promote
Tarell Brown to starter or consider vet
Shawntae Spencer, who has been nothing more than a mediocre starter in the past and is coming off an ACL tear of his own. The team could potentially also consider free agent
Rod Hood, who is currently mulling over a contract offer from the St. Louis Rams, or perhaps
Chris McAlister or
Dre' Bly.
UPDATE: Matt Maiocco reports that the team has spoken to Bly's agent and he will be in to visit on Thursday. Matt Barrows reports that the team also brought in former Buc Brian Kelly and are also interested in McAlister.
