Pashos to IR; roster moves

Tuesday, October 27, 2009 | Niner Cap Hell

The 49ers put right tackle Tony Pashos on injured reserve today after he fractured his scapula during Sunday's loss to the Texans. Pashos had recently taken over the starting job for Adam Snyder after sharing duties for the first few games of the season. Snyder will move back into the right tackle slot, which severely weakens the right side of arguably the worst offensive line in the NFL, as he was initially expected to take Chilo Rachal's starting spot at right guard due to the second-year player's constant struggles in pass protection.

For depth, the team brought back former practice squadder Chris Patrick off of the Chiefs' practice squad. The 6-4, 310 lb guard-tackle went undrafted in 2007 out of Nebraska and in addition has spent time on the practice squads of Giants, Patriots, Packers, Lions and was an inactive part of the 53-man roster of the Eagles in 2008 for seven weeks.

The team also activated Diyral Briggs from the practice squad. The rookie out of Bowling Green was particularly impressive during the preseason, showing terrific pass rushing moves and constantly put pressure on opposing 2nd and 3rd string QBs throughout. To make room, the 49ers waived veteran Marques Harris.
