DT Kentwan Balmer has been placed on IR, with a shoulder injury. Balmer underwent successful shoulder surgery at Stanford Hospital this morning.

Replacing Balmer on the roster is DT Baraka Atkins, who originally was drafted in 2007 by Seattle in the fourth round out of Miami (FL). He put up an impressive 4.69 40 time at 6'4, 271 lbs, with 22 reps of 225 on the bench, 33" vertical, 9'04" broad jump and an 11 in the Wonderlic test.

Atkins has played in 21 career games. Recording 28 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries and 1 pass defended.
