Hobbes' August 4th Practice Notes

Went to practice today, same old Smith.

He threw some ducks today, and he had a few good throws. So we can probably expect more of the same from what he did last year at best.

Nate Davis did not look very good. I was disappointed. I guess his picture playbook isn't working for him. I even spoke to one of the beat writers that I know and he said that Singletary told them that Davis is behind where they hoped he would be coming into the year. He threw at least 1 pick during practice to Ahmad Brooks, and Brooks nearly got another pick later on in practice from Davis. But Davis did have 1 nice play where he scrambled (in a game he would have been sacked like twice) and he threw like a 50 yard bomb down the right sideline in the wind to one of the scrub receivers who got interferred with but still caught it.

Dixon looks like a beast. He hits the hole hard and has a nice initial burst.

Vernon was beasting too. As was Crabtree. Crabs looks like he's ready to break out this year, he was really smooth in and out of his breaks and he made a lot of nice plays and pulled a Jerry every time he caught it by running to the endzone.

Wasn't really too impressed with what I saw out of Anthony Davis. He looked kinda slow out there. Iupati looks good though, so does De La Puente.

Another guy that impressed me was WR Bakari Grant. He's got nice size at 6'3 and pretty good speed. Also seemed to catch everything thrown his way too.

Scot McKillop got injured too on a play. He was down for like 5 minutes and had to be taken away on a stretcher. Not sure if it was his knee or not. The beat writer told me it might have been his ankle.

The pass rush seemed to get a lot of good pressure in the drills, so that was encouraging. But that might also mean our Oline still sucks.

And Brian Jennings FTW! During the warmups and stretching he was cracking jokes with the crowd and responding to anyone who talked to him, it was pretty cool.
