49ers sign Brian Westbrook

Matt Barrows reports that the 49ers have signed veteran back
Brian Westbrook to a one-year deal. The Eagles released him back in March after missing the majority of 2010 due to multiple concussions. He will be in the mix with rookie
Anthony Dixon to give the team a nice trio of backs behind starter
Frank Gore, and probably serve as the third down specialist due to his receiving prowess.
Update: per Jason LaCanfora, the contract is for $1.25M base with incentives that can reach up to $2.5M.
In injury news,
Vernon Davis suffered a sprained knee from the Colts game and is listed as day-to-day.
