49ers are 4-1; Have huge test sunday

After a huge road victory over the Eagles and a blow out over the Buccaneers, the 49ers have run there record to 4-1.
But it has come at a price. In the closing minutes in the win over the Bucs, WR Joshua Morgan suffered what was thought to be an ankle injury, but turned into a season ending injury. A broken leg. And was placed on Injured Reserve, effectively ending his season.
The 49ers then signed former Packers WR Brett Swain to a one-year deal.
Alex Smith, while not overly impressive, has done a good job of managing the 49ers offense. And the 49ers defense has come out hitting. CB Carlos Rogers has had an interception in each of the last 3 games. And has looked like a great signing. And looks like his $4.25 million salary is well worth it.
The 49ers run game has finally gotten in roll. Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter have led the team to some great performances. While FB Bruce Miller, former DE at UCF, has shown he has made the transition smoothly.
Of other good performances, rookie CB Chris Culliver has really shown he is a great special teams player, and a heck of a cornerback. He is showing why he was the teams 3rd-round pick this past april.
The 49ers have one huge test this weekend before there bye week. They come into Detroit, and face a undefeated Lions team(5-0). Can the 49ers defense hold up and shut down Calvin Johnson. And can they get pressure on Matthew Stafford and make him make bad decision, like they did with Josh Freeman last sunday.
This should be a heck of a ball game, and a close one. Can the 49ers pull it out? Who knows, but we will find out, at 10AM pst/1PM est on FOX.
