49ers get to 7-1 with a win over the Redskins

Monday, November 7, 2011 | Jason

Well it wasn’t the most dominate win, but the 49ers got the job done, with a 19-11 victory over the Redskins. This is the 49ers 4th win on the east coast, and their 7th win overall. This was the first game where they didn’t score a rushing touchdown. But that didn’t mean Frank Gore didn’t get another 100+ yard rushing game, his 5th straight game with over 100 yards rushing.

Alex Smith had a good day throwing for around 200 yards, with the 49ers lone touchdown, a 30-yard strike to Bruce Miller after the 49ers forced a fumble on the previous play. Although there were some miss plays, Alex looked confident and played that way.

While the 49ers defense came up with 3 turnovers, they only sacked Redskins QB John Beck once, a week after the Bills sacked Beck 10 times. But the 49ers were all over Beck constantly, with 6 QB hits.

I really can’t find a blemish on this game, only that the 49ers should have been able to put the Redskins away, and they must be able to if they want to be considered a top team in the NFL.

The 49ers came out pretty much healthy. Only Frank Gore had a minor injury to his ankle, but x-rays were negative, and he is likely to play Sunday.

Up next is a meeting with the Giants at home, this Sunday, it is a 1:15 Pacific/4:15 Eastern start, and it will be on FOX.
