Running back Kevan Barlow insisted he is not concerned about a rumor that he might soon be traded to the New York Jets.
"It's just speculation," Barlow said.
The 49ers have made three player-for-player trades in the past year after not making any such deals since 1988. Given all the trades, Barlow was asked whether he and other players wonder if they might be next. He bristled at the question.
"I ain't going to comment on that question," he said. "No comment on that. I just told you I ain't worried about it. I'm not worried about it, know what I mean? Coach (Mike) Nolan told me, he told you. I'm not worried about being traded. I'm here. ... I hope."
Nolan said Tuesday he has spoken with Barlow about the rumor, telling the sixth-year veteran there have not been "serious talks." But Nolan said Wednesday he has not promised Barlow that he'll be on the team.
"No, I just reassured him I'm not having any communication," Nolan said. "But I wouldn't reassure anybody they'll be with this team right now."

Hmmm...We all know that Barlow ran well when there was comp but I really like Hicks and Robinson looks like a player. Gore is the man though and I am really hoping he stays healthy and gets that 1000+. We'll see what happens. |

Barlow has been unimpressive since landing a big contract from Donahue and Co. I say take what you can get for him a DB like Strait would be great as the secondary has run thin the last few years. A DB with playing experience is a big plus. |
Jason - Site Staffat 2006-08-17 18:33:21This IMO is a terrible idea, im not at all confident in Gore's durability, and im not confident at all in having Hicks or Robinson as the backups. Barlow should stay atleast this year, if he improves with a better line, than great. But there is no need to trade him. |

Maybe it is time for Barlow to go on. He has given us all he can but who knows why the change. Maybe he is looking for another team. Good luck Barlow |

WE are really in need of a good corner. Spencer pulled a hamstring in practice. Maybe we could get one using Barlow. Gore has not show any singhs of lack in his durability. He will be fine. |
